Reports have emerged that Charlton Athletic are very close to signing Michal Zyro on a loan deal for the remainder of the season. The Polish striker has barely featured for the Wolves senior side with just 468 minutes of game time under his belt this season. He is well behind in the pecking order and can make an impact for a promotion-chasing League One side in the final stretch of the current campaign.

A product of Legia Warsaw, Zyron made his senior debut at the age of 17 and went on to score 27 goals and furthered 32 assists in 152 appearances. Impressing in the Ekstraklasa the former Poland international earned himself a move to the Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2015 and signed a 3 and a half year contract with the Championship side.

However, he never found his feet in the English game and has only racked up a measly 10 appearances and is now a distant choice behind the likes of Diogo Jota and Ivan Cavaleiro. Wolves are well on their way to win the EFL Championship this season and are preparing for a near future in the Premier League.

The club has already bolstered the attacking lineup by signing Rafael Mir from Valencia and are currently scouring the transfer market for more additions. This makes Zyro’s future at the club even more uncertain and a loan move will be the beneficial option rather than opting to stay at a club and warm the benches.

The Addicks have already signed Arsenal youngster, Stephy Mavididi to improve their attacking lineup who had impressed for the side in his previous loan spell. He was quoted, “I’m looking forward to coming back and enjoying my football again. I want to pick up where I left off at Charlton and help the club to achieve promotion. I really enjoyed my time here last season and, for any young player moving club, it is always easier when you go somewhere that you know people and I hope that I can settle back in straight away.”

Zyro can provide the side with the all-important width from flanks and can link up with the likes of Mavididi, Josh Magennis and Leon Best in the final third. The 19-year-old Gunner loanee scored the final goal to kill off the opposition’s resolve in the late stages of the 3-1 win against Walsall on Saturday. Now that Zyro has arrived they can continue their impressive 3 game win streak and put up a fight in the playoffs to earn promotion to the Championship.
