Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore. According to recent reports, Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs have tabled a bid for the Argentinian international, who has scored 44 goals in 248 matches since making a move to Paris back in 2011 and has been linked with a move away from the Parisian club during this ongoing transfer window, which was looking far from possible some days back as well. It is also believed that the attacking midfielder is attracting attention from the Serie A club, Inter Milan and Premier League giants, Liverpool. However, the Argentinian is only keen on a move back to Italy.

Some sources have already claimed that both the Reds and Tottenham Hotspur have tabled offers in the region of €25-40m (£22-35m) to bring Pastore to the Premier League but the Paris Saint-Germain midfield maestro has rejected both clubs in favour of a move to Inter Milan. It is being reported that Pastore’s agent is currently in Italy trying to negotiate a deal for his client to join the Milan side before the transfer window comes to a close at the end of this month.

The 28-year-old has scored 4 goals and made one assist in 18 matches for PSG in all competitions this season.

Tottenham Hotspur are currently in 5th place in the Premier League standings with a tally of 45 points after Gameweek 24. They are just three points behind fourth-placed Liverpool with 14 games left in the current Premier League campaign. Mauricio Pochettino could do with a few quality additions to his squad in this transfer period and the potential move for Pastore this month would have given his side a massive lift going into the second half of their campaign. However, it looks like a distant dream now with the player favouring a move to Inter Milan this month.

It remains to be seen whether the North London outfit goes in with another improved offer before his move to Milan is finalised. In a recent interview, Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has heaped praise on Pastore and was quoted to have said,

‘I love Pastore, he plays for Paris but he doesn’t play in the team.

‘They have two great players – Pastore and [Hatem] Ben Arfa and neither of them play.

‘Pastore is very special, Pastore surprises you every time, he gives the ball to someone no-one has seen before.

‘And he surprises all of the fans, I think he’s a great player. ‘He plays for Argentina, which is a great player, but he doesn’t play for Paris, which is a small club!’

Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of the Argentinian international and whether Spurs are able to acquire his services in the near future.
