Celtic resume their domestic campaign this midweek as they are due to face Partick Thistle. Under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers, the reigning Scottish champions have managed to cultivate their superiority once again and are placed at the top of the Scottish Premiership table with 51 points to their name from 22 games.
Here is how we expect Celtic to line-up against Alan Archibald’s troops in the league fixture.
Defence
Craig Gordon is expected to be handed the pair of gloves once again. The custodian has been preferred by Rodgers this season to cater to his goalkeeping needs and he should be keeping his place between the sticks once again.
Ahead of him, we expect a defensive wall of four players, with Mikael Lustig placed at the right-back position. He has been quite a decent player so far and is likely to be pencilled in the starting line-up once again. From the left, Kieran Tierney should start to showcase his calibre and industry once again.
Celtic would be without Marvin Compper as the newcomer has been sidelined with an injury, as well as Anthony Ralston. Thus, at the heart of the defence of the Celts, we expect the duo comprising of Dedryck Boyata and Jozo Simunovic. These two should be able to inject the required resilience to the backline.
Midfield
Club captain, Scott Brown, is likely to be chalked in the middle of the park once again. He has been ever-present for the Glasgow-giants and has been quite productive for them. Alongside him, Olivier Ntcham should be a decent choice.
Tom Rogic has reportedly suffered a setback in his return from his knee injury and is likely to be back around the end of March. To operate as a no.10, we expect Stuart Armstrong to be given the nod by the former Liverpool manager.
Attack
Right up front, we expect Moussa Dembele to be stationed. The 21-year-old Frenchman has scored 4 goals in 7 starts for the Bhoys and would be looking to add a goal or two to his tally in the upcoming league game against the Jags.
Patrick Roberts and Jonny Hayes are out of contention, and thus, from the left-wing position, Scott Sinclair should be making yet another start to put his attacking prowess on offer whereas, from the other flank, Rodgers is expected to go with James Forrest. Forrest has smashed 7 league goals already and has been able to offer a genuine attacking threat to oppositions.
