Swansea were disappointingly defeated by Brighton 1-0 at home. Glenn Murray’s knee was all that separated the two sides. Below is how Swansea players and substitutes were rated.
Lukas Fabianski (7):
Good save in the 11th minute to tip Pascal Gross’s chipped effort over the bar. Nothing he could do to stop Glenn Murray’s touch off his thigh finding the back of the net .A fantastic save in the 34th minute to deny Dunk the chance to double the lead. He was the only reason Swansea did not lose by more goals.
Kyle Naughton (6):
Made a good interception to cut out Propper dangerous pass to Jose Izquierdo. In the second half, he was getting up the flank most of the half to try and get The Swans on the front foot.
Federico Fernandez (4):
Had a very poor game. In the first half, he struggled to deal with Murray and got booked for fouling him prior to the goal. then for the goal, it was poor marking to leave Murray unmarked a yard from goal. In the second half, he continued to make tackles and was lucky to stay on the pitch.
Alfie Mawson (5):
Not the easiest of afternoons for the centre-half. He could have cut out the cross for the goal. In the second half, he had a couple of headed chances from corners which he put wide.
Sam Clucas (5):
A tough afternoon for the left-back. He had a tough game dealing with Anthony Knockaert. He then took all bar two of Swansea’s free kicks but his delivery was very poor. was substituted for Oliver McBurnie with ten minutes to go.
Leroy Fer (6):
Did well at trying to get involved in the middle battle. However, his passing was poor and did not have his greatest game.
Sung-Yueng Ki (5):
He made a couple of nice deliveries from set pieces. Apart from that very sloppy on the ball.
Tom Carroll (6):
Made a couple of nice runs forward from midfield. However, he made some poor passes and struggled with the final pass. Was replaced in the 59th minute by Luciano Narsingh.
Nathan Dyer (6):
He did well first half trying to run to Gaetan Bong but never really got any success. In the second half he struggled to run at Bong.
Tammy Abraham (7) :
One of the bright sparks on the pitch for Swansea. He used his pace well to get at the Brighton defence and try and make something happen. On another day he could have had one or two goals if it wasn’t for the Brighton defence.
Jordan Ayew (4):
A real disappointing afternoon as he failed to get into the game. He was then substituted for Wayne Routledge with ten minutes to go.
Substitute:
Luciano Narsingh (6):
He replaced Carroll in the 59th minute. His best chance came in the last minute when he hit the bar in stoppage time.
Wayne Routledge (N/A):
Came on for Ayew with ten minutes to go but failed to do an awful lot.
Oliver McBurnie (N/A):
Came on for Clucas with ten minutes to go but failed to do a lot.
