Manchester City are currently in their best form of the season and have made winning matches, a habit. They won their last match against Arsenal by 3-1 and have taken a big step towards winning their third Premier League title this season.
The Citizens have built a very strong lineup, with all their players contributing well towards their consolidated goal of winning the supreme prize in both domestic and European fronts. However, they might look to add some more players to their lineup to strengthen it even more in the near future.
The Manchester club has a number of good players playing in their midfield including the likes of their captain David Silva, Fernandinho and Kevin De Bruyne. The trio has made a big impact against the toughest of oppositions throughout their campaign so far and has the likes of Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan and Yaya Toure to replace them in case any kind of change is made to the lineup.
However, the Citizens want to add some more experienced players to their side. One of them is from their city rivals Manchester United. Spanish playmaker Juan Mata is reportedly a prime target for Manchester City in the next transfer window.
Speculations are rife that their current captain and mercurial midfielder David Silva has not yet agreed to sign a new contract with them and his present deal ending in 2019. It will indeed be a big blow for the Citizens if they lose a player of his stature as he is targeted by the European giants Inter Milan.
This might force the Citizens to turn their interest towards bringing in the Manchester United star to the side in an effort to replace David Silva. The fact that Mata has a similar playing style with the ability to pertain a world of stability to the midfield with his cool and composed attitude, might make him a good addition to the side.
Silva has worked tirelessly towards establishing himself as the pinnacle of the City midfield and it is going to be a big loss for them if they cannot keep hold of the influential player in the near future.
However, 29-year-old Juan Mata has been reduced to a bits and pieces role for the Red Devils under their current manager Jose Mourinho and might be the best replacement for his compatriot David Silva in the City lineup if the move happens in the near future.
His age might be an issue but is he the right man for Manchester City?
