Everton are reportedly keeping an eye on New York City FC player Jack Harrison. The 20-year old Englishman played for United as a boy, before securing a move to the USA based club New York City.
His season at the States just ended with New York City losing 4-3 on aggregate to Columbus Crew in the MLS playoffs but Jack looks like he has a bright future in store. He finished the year with 10 goals for his side and played a very impressive season with good attacking display in his team’s run up to the playoffs.
The player’s exciting performances led him to a call-up from the England under 21 national camp. Harrison has also been singled out for praise by ex-New York City stars and European legends like Patrick Vieira, Frank Lampard and David Villa.
The English man who plays on the right wing for his team is understood to be valued at £6 m and has a further two years left on his contract. He is currently attracting interests from a number of English clubs like 2015-16 champions Leicester City, recently taken over Everton and newly promoted Brighton and Hove Albion.
It seems now Everton are ready to buy more talent to save the club from the imminent danger looming over them. Their link with Harrison goes on to show that the club is yet to be done spending despite having a busy summer.
In a super inflated transfer market, backed by the owner Farhad Moshiri and the Everton board, Ronald Koeman brought in a host of new summer signings that saw Everton spend a net amount of £142.38m.
Despite spending so heavily, they have failed to score regularly and it is now being reported that Harrison who is available at £6 m is an exciting prospect for Everton and could be an answer to their attacking woes.
Tipped by many to challenge the ‘top six’, the Toffees were expected to fight for a Champions League spot as well this time. Currently Everton are languishing in the 15th place having just escaped the relegation zone after their dramatic 3-2 win over Watford this weekend.
The return of their boyhood star Wayne Rooney failed to lift the club and things have gone horribly wrong. The Everton squad hosts a team of players of great attacking talent. The squad has a good mixture of youth and experience with the likes of Rooney and Sigurosson being seasoned warriors and the likes of Barkley, Ramirez, Klaassen, Calvert-Lewin Everton being some of the brightest prospects of European football. However, nobody has really fired this season for them which could make Harrison a necessity buy.
