Antonio Conte has sent scouts to catch the Inter Milan duo, Milan Skriniar and Antonio Candreva in action on Sunday. He’s keen on an updated report with regards to the development of the duo.
The Blues are set to make a move for the Inter Milan pair in January as they try to close the gap against Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table. Chelsea are currently sitting pretty in 4th place, nine points off the Citizens of Manchester. The Blues’ boss has identified that his squad needs an injection of quality to have any chance of winning silverware this season.
And the Inter Milan pair fits the bill perfectly as Chelsea attempt to secure their services in January. A mixture of youth and experience, both players are likely to raise the spirits in the Chelsea camp.
FcInterNews has reported that Antonio Conte will send his scouts to the San Siro in Milan to catch the duo in action on Sunday.
The Chelsea manager has previously worked with his namesake, Antonio Candreva while in charge of the Italian national team. The 30-year-old Italian has made 12 appearances this season and has four assists to his name. Although his stats for this season are not that impressive, Conte will be focussing on his wealth of experience, if he does end up at Chelsea. The right winger is under contract until June 2020 and his price-tag is considered to be in the region of €30m.
The former Lazio man has earned 52 caps for his country and has scored 7 goals at the international level. Candreva also made 192 appearances for Lazio, scoring 45 goals and making 45 assists.
His fellow team-mate, Milan Skriniar has also made 12 appearances this season, scoring 2 goals. But the 22-year-old centre-back will be more suited as a long-term solution while Candreva will be expected to make an immediate impact. Skriniar is still developing and might prove to be a worthy addition to Chelsea’s backline.
The Slovakian joined Inter Milan in the summer from Sampdoria for €23m. But his recent performances have seen his price go up even more, in just a couple of months. He has been rock solid at the back for Luciano Spaletti’s Inter Milan team and some reports say that Chelsea might face stiff competition for the Slovakian’s services as the youngster is gathering attention from a whole host of clubs including the Spanish giants, Barcelona.
But do you think the duo can help Chelsea back to their best?
