Chelsea aren’t exactly known for the development of their young stars and Stamford Bridge isn’t quite an attractive destination for any youngster hoping for a lot of first-team minutes. Antonio Conte’s arrival has done quite a lot to not bruise that further. Conte has given the youngsters decent opportunities this season and was also reported to have said that he would give youngsters a chance, regardless of their age if they perform well.
If the recent reports are to be believed, Conte is keeping tabs on Genoa youngster Pietro Pellegri. Pellegri is regarded as one of the top talents in Europe and surely won’t come cheap although price probably won’t prove a stumbling block for a club like Chelsea.
The 16-year-old became the youngest player in Seria A to score a double after he netted two goals against Lazio in their 3-2 lost a few days ago. The youngster is said to be boyhood fan of his current club Genoa and it will be extremely difficult to lure him away from Stadio Luigi Ferraris stadium.
Standing at six foot three already at sixteen, he can quite easily acclimatize to the Premier League. Despite his tall figure, he is quite swift with the ball and has a lot of tricks up his sleeves. Furthermore, he often drives inwards from wide areas and his pace and dribbling skills make him a really tough customer to deal with for any defender.
His turn of pace is another great asset which makes him even more threatening. He not only has the ability to dribble past players but is also said to be an excellent finisher of the ball. Some have even gone on to make quite a far-fetched comparison to Zlatan Ibrahimovic but this is quite obviously just too much to say for a young sixteen-year-old who has his whole career ahead of him.
Needless to say, he is really young and raw but may develop into a really top player in Europe. He surely has a long road ahead of him. If Chelsea does happen to get him, they will have to be careful to not introduce the striker too early into the first team. Signing the striker will surely be an investment for the long term although the London outfit will have to shell-out an astounding £40m if they are to get the youngster.
The striker already has numerous suitors for him and with the likes of Manchester United and Juventus linked with the youngster, Chelsea would need to tie the player up quickly.
