28-year old German wing-forward Marco Reus has been linked with a move to Liverpool yet again. The Borussia Dortmund man, who suffered a long injury, when he tore his cruciate ligament in last year’s DFB-Pokal final is set to return to action early next year.

The Reds are long-term admirers of the German player and Klopp’s history of working closely with Reus during their years at Dortmund, has compelled the Liverpool board to take interest in the 28-year old.

Reus’ latest comments stating he might be on the move from Westfalenstadion will definitely encourage the Reds to pursue their transfer target with more promptness, especially since Inter Milan are reportedly ready to rival the Merseyside club for the German.

Born and brought up in Dortmund, Reus was also a part of the youth academy at the BVB. After developing his youth career at Dortmund, Reus left for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer of 2009. Under Lucien Favre, Reus went on to become a top player at the club and his goal-scoring exploits alerted his former employees to make a move for their former youth academy product.

Reus returned to his home in January 2012 for a fee of €17.1 and went on to form a deadly chemistry with Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski. The trio, under the tutelage of Klopp, terrorized European defences and their semi-final win over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League announced their arrival on the world platform.

Since rejoining Dortmund, Reus has gone on to score 89 goals for the club. Following the departure of Gotze, Lewandowski and Klopp from Westfalenstadion, Reus became a beacon of loyalty in the modern day football, refusing big-money moves and preferred to stay at BVB.

Although Reus’ move to Liverpool will be a romantic story for many football fans as a reunion with Klopp and his favourite pupil, the move might not be ideal for the Reds.

Liverpool already have a host of attacking talents in Daniel Sturridge, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Mohammad Salah, Philippe Coutinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Dominic Solanke and young Ben Woodburn.

Exactly where Reus would fit into this young attacking lineup and how beneficial would a move for a 29-year old injury prone player in a fast, physical league would be, are two of the many questions Klopp will have to answer for if Liverpool want to land the German star.

However if Coutinho were to leave for Barcelona and if Klopp can finalize a relatively low-price deal for the German in this crazy transfer market, having a player of Reus’ calibre would never hurt the team’s chances of scoring goals. So should they go for him?
