West Bromwich Albion are hoping to have another good season in the Premier League after last season’s good show, which saw them finish in the 10th position in the league table. However, they have looked far from their best in this season so far and are badly in need of inspirational performances to give their season a major boost.
The Baggies have been very strong defensively in their approach this season as they did in the last term, but there is also a major need for them to get players into their ranks who can vie with the opponents for the ball in the middle of the pitch and also help their teammates to score goals by making crisp passes into the attacking third. That possibility will definitely be boosted to a whole new level as they will be able to avail the services of one of their best midfielders in the form of Nacer Chadli.
The Belgian winger, who was brought into the side by the Baggies in 2016 for a club record transfer fee, was forced to sit out of the side with a prolonged injury since the start of the current season and has not been able to feature in a single match so far in the Premier League.
His absence in the midfield led to a problematic situation for the gaffer Tony Pulis, who might start to breathe a bit more freely now that the ex-Tottenham star is on the verge of making a comeback into the side.
The 28-year-old has featured in 33 games so far for West Brom and has shown his quality in the middle of the pitch, using all his experience he has gathered while playing for one of the top teams in the Premier League in the form of Tottenham Hotspur.
He has scored five goals so far for the Baggies and has also provided five assists to show for his efforts. Pulis will expect him to perform the same way and help his team achieve a better result than they did in the last term.
Speculations were rife that the player had a rift with the coach after his denial to join the side on their pre-season tour of Austria, which has led to his exclusion from the side in the season so far.
However, the wily tactician took the onus to clear the air on that issue and has said that the real reason behind Chadli’s absence from the side was his injury and not any tussle with him. He is not too far away from the first-team action but can Chadli take West Brom back to their best?
