Real Madrid finally prevailed against Dortmund in the Signal Iduna Park, as Los Blancos registered an impressive 3:1 victory over the Black and Yellows. Zinedine Zidane’s men also broke their duck in the process of not managing to win at the Signal Iduna Park. A brace from Cristiano Ronaldo and all important from Gareth Bale secured the win for Los Merengues in a game full of excitement. Aubemeyang scalped the goal, which proved to be a mere consolation at the end.
Here are the Real Madrid players rated in their win over Dortmund.
Keylor Navas(7/10): Didn’t really have to do much as the defence in front of him, made sure the opposition won’t get past the Real Madrid goalline. Didn’t make much of an impression when he was called upon either.
Danny Carvajal(8.5/10): Always had the better of opposing fullback Jeremy Toljan and also kept in form winger Maximilian Philipp quiet throughout the game. Made some great runs forward, which were very helpful for the visitors.
Raphael Varane(8.5/10): A solid performance from the French International, who once again showed who’s the boss in the duel against Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The 24-year-old showed great character and spirit to prevail against the Gabonese International.
Sergio Ramos(9/10): Stood like a wall in defence. Not only did Sergio Ramos prevail defensively but also showed great tenacity to help out his team in offensive situations as well. The Real Madrid captain led by examples against Dortmund.
Nacho(7.5/10): Stayed resolute on the left and successfully prevented Andriy Yarmolenko to get into dangerous areas. A solid display from the deputing fullback.
Casemiro(9/10): Once again, showed his actual worth in Real Madrid midfield with an admirable defensive effort against Dortmund. He kept the loose balls in check and also provided some necessary cover for the backline.
Luka Modric(9/10): Awed the fans with his sensational qualities on the ball. Modric was outstanding right from the get-go. His fluent through balls, along with his ball-carrying abilities were troublesome for the opposition defence.
Toni Kroos(8/10): Though not as impressive as his partner in crime, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos was fairly decent in midfield tonight. Composed in possession, the German International hardly let Dortmund take control of the midfield.
Isco(8/10): Absolutely brilliant performance from the Spanish International, who was a real menace for Real Madrid going forward. He was seen tracking back to pick up balls from deep but he also picked out key through balls to rip the Dortmund defence open.
Cristiano Ronaldo(9/10): Proved his goal-scoring credentials with two valuable goals, which has almost handed Real an automatic qualification for the next round. Ronaldo will be keen to continue his form in the league this weekend.
Gareth Bale(9/10): His stunning finish for the opener, was the X-factor of tonight’s match. A moment of brilliance from the Welshman completely turned the table early on, following a brave and fearless start from the hosts.
Subs
Marco Asensio(NA): Came on for Isco, with 15 mins remaining on the clock. Made some simple passes and help Real Madrid see out the game.
Lucas Vazquez(NA): Subbed on for a tiring Gareth Bale six minutes from time. Lucas Vazquez’s substitution was a clear attempt to run down a clock, more than anything else.
Dani Ceballos(NA): Got a late run-out following his glittering performance on the weekend after replacing Luka Modric for the final few minutes of the game.
