Apollon Limassol and Everton both capitalised on defensive errors from opposition defenders to score the first goals of the game. The Cypriot outfit failed to maintain the parity and conceded in the 66th minute from Nikola Vlasic’s strike although Everton failed to hold on to the lead and conceded a late goal at the death of the game to draw 2-2 to a 10-men Limassol side. The game ended frantically with chances on either side. Below are Everton individual player ratings from their draw Vs Apollon Limassol.
Jordan Pickford
Rating: 6/10
Pickford didn’t have much to do in goal. He could have done better in dealing with the first goal. He was quite unconvincing in clearances with his punches on atleast two occasions.
Jonjoe Kenny
Rating: 7.5/10
Kenny did well both offensively and defensively. He stayed upfield for long periods in attack and made it hard for the opposition to play the ball out through the wings.
Mason Holgate
Rating: 6.5/10
Holgate’s weaknesses playing in an unnatural position were evident as he often failed to deal with Apollon Limassol’s attackers.
Ashley Williams
Rating: 5/10
Williams made the costly error in the first half which led to Apollon’s first goal. He improved quite a lot after that.
Leighton Baines
Rating: 7.5/10
Baines had an excellent game and dug Everton out of trouble a number of times by dribbling out of the traffic. Also contributed offensively to the game.
Idrissa Gueye
Rating: 5.5/10
Gueye was quite underwhelming in the first half and misplaced several simple passes. He was subbed off at the end of the first half.
Morgan Schneiderlin
Rating: 7/10
Schneiderlin gave some excellent balls to the forward players with his long-range passing. He could have contributed a little more to the team defensively.
Tom Davies
Rating: 7/10
Davies saw a lot of the ball but often ran into defenders and lost possession. His long-distance shot forced Apollon’s keeper into a decent save.
Gylfi Sigurdsson
Rating: 6.5/10
Siggurdson did well with his deliveries during set-pieces but failed to have a decent amount of possession on the ball in the first half.
Sandro Ramirez
Rating: 6.5/10
Ramirez too didn’t see much of the ball at the beginning of the first half but improved quite a lot as the game progressed.
Wayne Rooney
Rating: 7.5/10
Rooney had a decent game, capitalising on the opposition defender’s error to score the first goal. He remained a threat throughout the game.
Substitutes
Nikola Vlasic
Rating: 8/10
After a rather blunt first half from Everton, Vlasic’s introduction made things happen for Everton. He got a decent goal and continued to create chances with decent deliveries till the end of the game.
Davy Klaassen
Rating: 6/10
Klaassen played some decent passes into the box towards the end of the game.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Rating: 7/10
Calvert Lewin failed to score from an excellent opportunity. He had a decent impact on the game after coming on.
