It has been a rough month for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool side but the Reds will look to start October on a good note as they face Newcastle this weekend. Liverpool managed to win only one out of their last six matches all competitions and a visit to St. James’ Park could be intimidating. However, they are still fifth in the table, and a win on the weekend could potentially take them above third-placed Chelsea.
Here’s a look at the predicted 4-3-3 Liverpool lineup to travel to Newcastle this weekend.
Goalkeeper: Simon Mignolet will be the man between the sticks for the visitors. He will replace Loris Karius, who started in the midweek’s Champions League fixture against Spartak.
Right Back: With the injury to Nathaniel Clyne, coach Jurgen Klopp doesn’t have many options on the right back position. Youngster Trent-Alexander Arnold travelled all the way to Russia in midweek, therefore, he might be rested this weekend with Joe Gomez potentially taking up his place.
Center Back(R): Joel Matip will keep retaining his place in the starting lineup. The former Schalke captain will be crucial to maintaining the stability of Liverpool’s backline against Newcastle.
Center Back(L): Dejan Lovren will also keep his place in the team following the midweek game. The Croat will be key to Liverpool’s defense against Newcastle.
Left Back: Andrew Robertson might also get a call-up as Jurgen Klopp looks to re-shuffle his backline following an exhaustive game against Spartak. Though Alberto Moreno is still an option for the German head coach.
Central Defensive Midfield: Emre Can is expected to start in midfield as well. The German International is a crucial part of Liverpool’s middle third. He will be important for the visitors as they look to dominate the opposing midfielders.
Central Midfield(R): Jordan might get to warm the bench on Sunday following a midweek travel to Russia. Coutinho, however, will keep his place on the side.
Central Midfield(L): Liverpool are expected to make no changes in the central department but Klopp could just be wary of star player Coutinho’s fitness, especially after a long flight back to England. Meaning Giorginio Wijnaldum could be given a starting berth in the team.
Right Wing: Good news for Liverpool fans is that star winger Sadio Mane has served his three-match suspension and will return to action this weekend. His return would be a boost for the Reds as they aim to bounce back in their league form.
Center Forward: Roberto Firmino is likely to be replaced with Daniel Sturridge as it seems. Coach Jurgen Klopp will want to strengthen his side by giving the English forward more gametime.
Left Wing: Mohamed Salah is once again expected to be in the thick of things this weekend. The Egyptian International has been a killer signing for the Reds this season. He will look to cause some serious havoc from the left flank.
