Rangers winger Barrie McKay has now signed a deal for Championship side Nottingham Forest as the Scottish giants plan a massive clearance ahead of next season. New Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has been hugely busy this summer bring in the necessary reinforcements to the side and didn’t see McKay in his grand scheme of things next season.

The player has apparently agreed to terms with the Championship club for a fee around £500,000 that will see the Scotsman switching sides, with Rangers even reportedly planning to use that fee in bringing in Norwich City midfielder Graham Dorrans. Caixinha has already completed eight signings this summer with Dorrans queueing up to become the ninth.

The signings include star player Dalcio on the wings and Rangers’ omission of McKay from their Europa League squad was the final indication that the player’s time was over. Approaching the final year of his contract, the player was on the lookout of a destination elsewhere and with former manager Mark Warburton at the helm at Forest, the decision wasn’t a difficult one.

Warburton was asked to step down by the club midseason the last term and since becoming the manager in the Championship, the manager has kept a keen eye on the Scottish Premiership in the summer market. He has already roped in Hibs striker Jason Cummings for £1 million and McKay would be the second one.

A regular under Warburton at the Ibrox Stadium, McKay had played a significant role for Rangers in winning the Championship in the season 2015-16. Since breaking into the side back in 2015 following a loan stint with third-tier Scottish side Raith Rovers FC, McKay has played a whopping 140 games for Rangers over the course of two successful seasons, where he has scored 20 goals and assisted 39 times.

An academy product of Scottish side Kilmarnock FC, Rangers got hold of McKay back in 2011 when he was only 16 and he has made instant progress with the club. However, his career on the national front has been disappointing as he couldn’t manage more than a cap since making his debut against France in 2016.

Nottingham Forest had a terrible end to their domestic campaign last term as they escaped the relegation by the skin of their teeth. They finished on same points with relegated side Blackburn Rovers but stood out on goal difference. The club has been taking measures to get back up with Warburton at the helm and new signings to come.
