Manchester City have been looking to make amends for an unsatisfactory season in the last term and have started strongly in their venture to rebuild their side for the next season, clinching two of the best players in the current scenario of European football. Bernardo Silva from the French Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco, who is an attacking midfielder and the enigmatic shot stopper from Portuguese Primeira Liga champions of the season Benfica, Ederson, are both expected to be in the first team next season.

However, the Citizens are looking forward to what is being speculated as the most important transfer deal of the summer in the form of Alexis Sanchez, the talismanic playmaker from arch rivals Arsenal. Manchester City have a long history of raiding the Gunners in the recent past in search of quality players and are on their way to procuring probably their most important player so far.

Sanchez has been in contention to sign a new contract to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium, which is on the verge of expiry, with only twelve months left on it. He has been linked with a number of clubs, including the likes of defending champions Chelsea and German champions Bayern Munich. However, Manchester City are looking as the favourites to sign the Chilean star to land him at the Etihad Stadium in the next term.

Though both their forwards, the Argentine star Sergio Aguero and his Brazilian partner Gabriel Jesus, have been playing well for the Citizens in the last season, the inclusion of a third striker in the form of Alexis Sanchez is sure to give them that competitive edge over their opponents in the next season. Besides, the ability of the ex-Barcelona forward to play in a wider role might also come in handy for Manchester City.

The bonding between Sanchez and the present coach of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola was good throughout their term at Barcelona. The Chilean forward is looking ahead for the much-speculated reunion and is also eyeing the prospect of playing in the Champions League as well, which is not possible for him, if he stays back at the Emirates Stadium, as Arsenal failed to keep themselves in the top four for the first time since 1998.

Reportedly, Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger had claimed that he will not allow his talisman to leave in the forthcoming summer transfer window, but now with the change in the situation, there has been a change in the attitude from the North London club as well, who might let him go in case of a good offer.
