Chelsea have truckloads of talents at their disposal when it comes to youngsters, but owing to their inclination towards operating with the superstars of the game, the young guns fall behind in the pecking order and have to vouch for alternatives resorts to ply their trade. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder, Charles Musonda, shares a similar story.
Having emerged through the youth ranks of Anderlecht and Chelsea, Musonda is one of the hottest prospects in the game who could be a threatening force in a couple of years time, provided he is given the right guidance to blossom in a fully fledged manner. He was shipped out on loan in the January transfer window of 2016 to the La Liga outfit, Real Betis, and has garnered vital experience of top level football with them.
Although the Blues recalled the Belgian after a year by terminating his loan spell, he wasn’t able to break into Antonio Conte’s starting line-up the last term and presumably, considering the fact that he is at that stage of his career where he needs to accumulate ample amount of game time under his belt, an exit is seemingly likely to materialize over the course of the summer.
If the latest reports are to be believed, Scottish giants, Celtic, are marauding towards the prospect of luring Musonda to the Celtic Park. The Bhoys lifted the Scottish Premiership title, League Cup and Scottish Cup last term and one of the most intriguing aspects about them was the manner in which Brendan Rodgers made full use of the youngsters he had under his ranks and it goes without saying that he derived the best out of them.
Rodgers’ interest in signing Musonda makes perfect sense, for he is a quality player, who plays on the right wing and is hungry to prove his mettle. He possesses excellent dribbling skills, is a shrewd passer of the ball, has the requisite pace in his legs to toil relentlessly and has a significant degree of calmness and composure that makes him an appealing prospect for a club like the Celts.
Musonda has power, precision and given his age, his career is seemingly likely to witness an upward trajectory from here on. The Belgium Under21 international has been touted with a £5million move to Celtic, and at the onset, it clearly looks like the former Liverpool manager is looking for talented youngsters who could be the face of the club in times to come.
