Viktor Fischer has triggered interest from Celtic as Brendan Rodgers has supposedly expressed his intentions to sign the Danish youngster. Fischer has struggled in this season for Middlesbrough having arrived at the club from Ajax in a £3.8m deal. The 22-year-old has rarely featured in the Premier League as he started in only six games in the English top flight. The 22-year-old wasn’t given the chance to acclimatise to the English conditions as he could have been the X-factor for the Teesiders which is exactly what they missed this season.
A gloomy season will give Fischer a hope to revive his form for Boro but playing in the Championship could be the wrong path for him as Denmark boss Age Hareide has already issued a warning to the player that he has to ensure he remains a core part of the starting lineup wherever he decides to play otherwise he could lose his spot in the national team.
Celtic had a triumphant season as they remained undefeated throughout the season on the way to their ‘Invincibles’ Scottish Premiership title. They also won the Domestic treble as Brendan Rodgers has had a gala time at the Celtic Park. The ex-Liverpool manager took his managerial game plan to a different level as no team stood a chance against them.
Despite the recent success, Rodgers would be looking to repair some of the loopholes in the team and he is believed to have expressed his interest in Fischer. Fischer would be an ideal addition to Rodger’s set up as his ball playing ability will be a welcome addition for the Hoops. His silky smooth skills and creative plays can be a new weapon for Rodgers. The player is just 22 and can be moulded into a much-developed player due to his tender age.
Celtic are not that club who would splash their money in the transfer market. They believe in quality rather than quantity and they feel he can be an ideal fit. Middlesbrough would demand a fee in the range of £3.8m for this player and the Scottish Champions shouldn’t have any problem in shelling out the sum.
Let us take a look at how the fans reacted on Twitter:
