Rangers has pulled a major coup by signing Aberdeen captain Ryan Jack. The ex-Dons captain was Pedro Caixinha’s second signing after they snapped up Portuguese defender Bruno Alves. The Gers were planning a move for the Dons midfielder since a long time as Pedro Caixinha made this Scottish midfielder one of his priority signing.

Jack was robbed off his armband when it was assumed that the player might be heading towards the Ibrox in the summer. Despite informing Aberdeen manager about his intentions, Dons manager Derek McInnes included the player in the Scottish Cup final against Celtic which they lost 2-1.

Rangers have not been able to get past the Celtic barrier as Caixinha failed to get the balance right and probably the acquisition of Jack is to rectify the mistakes they did last season. Jack has signed a three-year deal with the Gers as they will be playing in the Europa League next season.

Jack came through the ranks of Aberdeen and has appeared for them 250 times. This is the first time that the player has moved out of this club as he started his career with the Pittodrie. Rangers hadn’t paid anything to the Dons as the player’s contract got expired at the end of the season which could be the reason for their outrage.

He was a key part of the Scotland U-21 squad but is yet to make his debut for the senior squad despite being picked in the squad. Rangers will be trying to rebuild their squad and Jack could be a vital part of the team. He would put a decent partnership with Scott Brown at the heart of the Rangers midfield as they did struggle at times in this season.

One of the biggest surplus things in Jack is his performance in the bigger stages. He has shown his capability in the European nights and with Rangers participating in the Europa League, a lot would be expected from him.

Caixinha prefers to play with a three-man midfield and Jack is expected to sit deep to anchor the play. His possession-based style and ability to link up the midfield with the attack is excellent. He dictates the pace of the game but he needs to do this on a consistent basis especially against the top teams with the likes of Celtic and Aberdeen.

Playing at the Ibrox will also increase his chances to get selected in the Scottish national team and he would be hoping to get the ball rolling as soon as the season starts.
