Alexandre Lacazette, the French striker, is available for a move this summer, as he has already declared his departure from the French Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyonnais recently. With speculations linking him with a move to the Spanish La Liga, Premier League club Arsenal is also looking to bag the star man of French football in the summer.
Reportedly, Arsenal offered £40 million to the French club Lyon to bag his services last summer, which was rejected by them, as they were in no mood to let go off their prized possession under any circumstances. However, now that the player has declared he wants to quit the club himself, it has become easier for Arsenal to pursue the French striker.
According to a French newspaper, the Gunners are readying a huge bid of £48 million to rope in the French striker for the next season. Their current coach Arsene Wenger is set to sign a new two-year deal with the North London club and is looking to bring in reinforcements to rebuild his side for the next season, with the current one being quite disappointing for their fans.
The Gunners have been able to secure the FA Cup by beating Chelsea in the final recently played at Wembley, which has appeased their supporters to some extent after they failed to qualify for the Champions League for the next season. Arsenal finished fifth in the League table this term and are set to miss the Champions League for the first time after 1998. They will be playing in the Europa League instead in the next season.
Lacazette, on the other hand, has shown interest in moving to a club which will let him showcase his talent in the top flight. He has said that he is up for a new challenge and speculations are rife that the Frenchman is eyeing a move to the Spanish La Liga club Atletico Madrid.
The striker has been one of the most prolific scorers for Lyon and has scored 37 goals in 45 appearances for them in all competitions this season. He has been one of the stars in the French Ligue 1 over the last couple of years, but now is eyeing global success with a move away from the French side.
Reportedly, the presence of the French superstar and one of the best players in the world currently, Antoine Griezmann, at Atletico Madrid might influence Lacazette to make a move to Spain. However, Arsenal stay hopeful of landing the mercurial striker in the summer as well.
