Tottenham Hotspur are not too far away from getting back into the title race but all Pochettino will hope is for his side to finish the season on a high. The manager will surely work on improving the squad at the end of the season but he will also have to work hard to keep the star players at the White Hart Lane for years to come.
The core of the squad at the Lane is young and Pochettino is definitely planning for the long term so it will be a huge blow if he has to let go any of the first team stars this summer. Star striker Harry Kane has been linked with a big-money move away from the club recently but one player who might attract extensive interest in the near future is English star, Dele Alli.
One of the most versatile players in England, Alli is a regular starter for both club and country and is one of the finest talents in the world of football. He joined Tottenham from MK Dons in 2015 and did not take much time to cement a place in the starting XI under Pochettino. In two seasons at the club, he has shown exceptional progress and is an integral part of the plan for the manager at the Lane.
Capable of playing anywhere in the midfield, Alli is an attacking midfielder with exceptional finishing abilities. He knows his way to the goal from various angles and ranges and is at his most productive playing just behind the striker. In that position, Alli has 11 goals and four assists for Tottenham this season and has already become irreplaceable.
In an inflated era like this, the 20-year old, who is already valued at £40m, could cost clubs a fortune and there are very few teams who can afford him. However, at his age, he is only going to get better and another 10+ goal season might see a few teams come calling soon enough. He has shown exceptional maturity for his age and though he still has a few facets of his game he has to improve on, he is already a superstar in his time in London.
He would have been a huge loss for any club and more so for Tottenham as Pochettino has his team built around him and his English colleague Harry Kane.
The duo is one of the most productive players as a pair in Europe this season and Pochettino will know that he will have a huge task on his hand if he is to replace him and his understanding with his striker partner. If he is to leave, Alli has the potential of bringing the Spurs back to where they were a couple of seasons ago.
