According to reports, Jose Mourinho has called Alexis Sanchez in an attempt to bring the player to Old Trafford. Sanchez hasn’t committed his future to Arsenal and has been in a dilemma. Mourinho is trying to take advantage of this situation and is trying to convince him to make a move to their archrivals.
A number of clubs are in the line to rope in the player but Chelsea remains the favourites to land the Chilean international. Arsenal haven’t done justice to their name in this season and their inconsistent form sees them on slippery ground in the quest to finish in the top 4. Amidst their on and off season, Sanchez’s form has remained constant. Usually, the player starts on the wings but this season it hasn’t been the same. Arsene Wenger opted to use him up front and the player has passed the test with flying colours. In this season, Sanchez has bagged 18 goals alongside 10 assists.
Creativity and scoring goals have been a problem for Mourinho and United. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has had to rise to every occasion to deliver. But the Swede is yet to sign on the dotted line which could force Mourinho to look for an attacker in the transfer market.
Sanchez has been offered a fresh deal worth £180,000 a week to extend his stay but he has rejected the deal. Added to this, his stringent relation with Wenger has added fuel to this speculation.
Jose Mourinho would go for a squad overhaul in the summer and he will be handed with big transfer kitty to pursue his targets. A host of players are expected to leave the club including Wayne Rooney. United would like to cash in on the United captain as he is seemingly frustrated after having been left out of the first team by Mourinho.
Sanchez joined Arsenal from Barcelona in 2014 and went on to become one of the most talked about players at the Emirates Stadium. Sanchez has been demanding wages in the range of £290,000-a-week but as long as Wenger is at the helm of the club they won’t bow to his demands. Also, the inability of the Gunners to challenge for the Premier League title and Champions League has reportedly made Sanchez reconsider his future.
United could fulfil Sanchez’s wage demands and at the Old Trafford Sanchez will have a guaranteed first team place. Mourinho is very keen to turn United into a champions side once again. If Sanchez does come to United it could be a threat to the other Premier League side as the trio of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Anthony Martial and Sanchez would destroy any defence on their day.
