With the Ronald Koeman headed revolution well and truly underway at the Goodison Park, we are getting to witness more changes as the transfer window goes into overdrive. With around 12 days to go before the window shuts down once again, Everton might well be the busiest club amongst the Top half of the table. With Lookman and Schneiderlin already onboard and with a couple of more names doing the round, Farhad Moshiri is showing his generous Iranian side at the Goodison.
But amongst all these arrivals, we might witness a significant departure as well. Gerard Deulofeu has been linked with a move away ever since Koeman came in and with his chances drying up almost totally, the exit seems imminent now.
Let us take a look at 3 possible destinations for the Spaniard.
The Foxes can very well take a look at this option. They really don’t have any alternatives to Riyad Mahrez and Albrighton on the flanks where Deulofeu thrives. With a target man like Slimani in the team, the Everton man can thrive on the wings and his razor sharp and accurate deliveries can be hugely successful for a team who seem to have fallen into their own trapping. The faltering Champions need to take quick decisions and this is a potential deal which can work well both ways. With Mahrez off to the AFCON and Albrighton looking a pale shadow of himself, options out wide will come in handy.
Not the most lucrative club for a player to go right now but a club which desperately needs players right now. Sunderland are struggling on every count with a lack of quality being superseded by a lack of quantity. With hardly any notable options on the wings, they would welcome a loan move for someone of the calibre of Deulofeu with open arms. With guaranteed football week in, week out, the player might agree to a move but with palpable doubts remaining over the long-term prospect of this move, the deal might be too far-fetched for the unlucky David Moyes.
Milan have been heavily linked with a move for the 22-year-old former Barcelona winger and their CEO, Adriano Galliani, has admitted they are hoping to land Deulofeu on loan for the rest of the season.
“We are talking for Deulofeu, but there is no agreement yet. Everton know full well we can only do loans or with option to buy. Plus, there are these pro-Barcelona clauses.
“Tomorrow we will discuss it and try to find a solution, otherwise we’ll remain with the squad as we are.”
A move abroad might suit the former Barcelona player, who has stagnated during his time in England.
