It was some scene at Old Trafford on Saturday when Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United side made an inspiring comeback against a resilient Middlesbrough, who had maintained their one goal lead till the final ten minutes of the game.
Once again, we are getting to see a United side like that of Sir Alex Ferguson’s times. They never looked to lose the game as they attacked incessantly and finally came out on top. With two late strikes from Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba, Manchester United now sit sixth and in touching distance from the top four bracket.
They had a really frustrating game when they hosted West Ham United last time, which ended at a draw despite United attacking endlessly throughout the second half. They will definitely look to win the game convincingly in the upcoming fixture.
Predicted 4-1-2-3 Manchester United Lineup Vs West Ham United
Defence
De Gea will take his position between the sticks. He had little work to do against Boro and could do hardly anything for Leadbitter’s goal.
Manchester United will be missing Eric Bailly. He will not only be missing Monday’s but up to seven more United fixtures in the New Year, while he’s away on international duty with Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations. If Ivory Coast goes all the way to the final in their defence of the tournament in Gabon, Bailly won’t be available for the Reds until mid-February.
United are heavily linked with centre backs this transfer season and this is one big reason. However, Mourinho will have Phil Jones taking his place at the centre. Valencia will start as the left wing back. Although he couldn’t do any real damage, he galloped up the flank on every chance.
Marcos Rojo is likely to start in the centre after Smalling’s horrific performance against Boro. Blind had difficulties tackling Traore and Mourinho is expected to start Darmian this time. Luke Shaw has returned to training but isn’t expected to be match fit.
