Jürgen Klopp has claimed that he has no explanation about Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Sunderland. The Reds went into the match with a 1-0 win over Manchester City. Liverpool squandered the lead twice as Sunderland came from behind to salvage a point. Daniel Sturridge gave the lead to the away side in the 19th minutes but Jermain Defoe cancelled the opener with a penalty.
Sadio Mane put the Reds ahead at the stroke of the 72 minute but Defoe was again at the scene for the Black Cats as he converted a late penalty to give the home side something to cheer.
Klopp said, “I am not able to explain it because I don’t know exactly what I saw, my team were fighting but I wasn’t sure if they could do it.
“We can play better football but I’m not sure if you can play better with that break.
“I don’t know how it feels when you have to do the things you have to do today.”
