Southampton lost their third match in a row as they went down to a confident Everton side on the last match of the hectic fixture. The team now sits at the 10th position in the Premier League table and are almost out of the Europa League qualification spot contention. Claude Puel’s squad rotation cost the Saints big time.

The Best And The Worst Southampton Players Rated From Their Loss Vs Everton

Forster (7.5/10)- He didn’t have a bad game even though the score line says differently. The 3 goals conceded by the Saints could hardly have been saved.

McQueen (7.5/10)- Couldn’t do much throughout the game, although he tried to move up at every opportunity.

His big frame definitely provides Southampton with an advantage at the back. He looked promising at times.

Yoshida (7/10)- He replaced Virgil van Dijk today and was nowhere close to bringing van Dijk’s solidity.

Although he looked quite good at times alongside Fonte, he lacks the composure and assurance van Dijk brings.

Jose Fonte (8/10)- Yet another good game. He led by example, although couldn’t do much about the goals.

The lack of goals up front further added to the shaky defence.

Ward-Prowse- (6.5/10) He had a good display in the middle of the park and he just needs to continue it now.

The game was very open today with most of the ball seen boiling down in the combative midfield and Ward-Prowse was up for it.
