According to Mirror, Crystal Palace Could move for France international Morgan Schneiderlin in the January transfer season. Despite completing only one-third of his four-year deal at Manchester United, the 26-year-old midfielder could be on the move after struggling to find playing time under new boss Jose Mourinho.
Although he was out with an injury for the most part of the season till now, he is returning to fitness. He was replaced at half-time in last week’s Europa League fixture defeat to Fenerbahce in Istanbul. He has only managed five minutes of Premier League football, which was the season opener against Bournemouth. Since then he has been out of the reckoning.
Crystal Palace look a likely option because the French midfielder has played under Palace’s current boss Alan Pardew in the 2009-10 season when Southampton were a League One club and it seems that Pardew is still an admirer of the player .
The deal won’t be an easy one considering Tottenham had their bid rejected in the summer transfer window and Mauricio Pochettino is likely to retain an interest. He has also worked with Schneiderlin when he was at Southampton.
The towering central midfielder is valued at £25million but a lesser amount could lead United to accept the bid as Mourinho could make changes in the squad.
Schneiderlin would surely land a first team at Palace. With players like Paul Pogba, Andre Herrera, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini in his position in United, it is difficult for him to make the cut at Old Trafford.
Schneiderlin is a complete midfielder who likes to keep the ball moving and is not afraid to go into tackles. He has garnered praise for his intercepting abilities and concentration while at St, Mary’s and could be a valuable addition to both Spurs and Palace.
In Palace, Schneiderlin will have to compete with Yohan Cabaye and Joe Ledley for the central midfield role. With the Premier League experience he has, Palace’s season could get a massive boost in the Frenchman.
The Eagles are 16th in the league table with 11 points in the opening 11 games. With Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend on the flanks and Schneiderlin would be getting enough chances to flourish and pick out players to showcase his passing ability. Although it would seem a step down for the midfielder, it would be ideal if he wishes to see himself in the France squad.
Palace are currently on a 4-match losing streak and although this bid seems audacious, he could be a season changer for the Eagles.
