Chelsea have been dealt another blow as Real Madrid defender Pepe is reportedly set to sign a new contract with the club. The 33-year old had confrontations over contract extensions but according to report things have been sorted out.
Earlier Pepe has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United. The defender’s current contract is going to expire at the end of the season and he is free to sign a pre-contract with any club.
Antonio Conte has been looking for a new central defender and Pepe was one of his primary targets.
Pepe will sign a two year contract with an option for a further season. The Portuguese who joined Madrid from Porto in 2007 earlier expressed his interest in spending the rest of his career at Madrid
Pepe will join the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos who already have signed new terms with The Los Blancos. Real are also negotiating a new contract with Cristiano Ronaldo, Isco and Dani Carvajal.
