Olivier Giroud admits he is ready to fight for a place in the Arsenal starting eleven. The on and off French striker has featured in only one match from the start and that too against Ludogorets in the UEFA Champions League.

Giroud was granted an extended leave by Arsene Wenger after the EURO 2016. The Frenchman had been sidelined for almost a month after he sustained a toe injury. The Gunners boss has been using Alexis Sanchez as the sole striker although he had signed Lucas Perez in this summer. He scored two goals coming off the bench against Sunderland.

The 30-year-old French International insisted that he is happy at Arsenal and want to continue here. “I see my future at Arsenal for another two or three years, the date my contract ends.

“I feel good here and I want to play at the highest level for as long as possible. I still feel I’ve got the gas to do it. After, for sure I’d prefer to be playing, but it will be for me to find my place. I’ll fight for my place. What’s happening today is the story of my career. It’s endless in football.”

Praising Arsene Wenger the striker went on to add that the French gaffer has always stood by his side whenever he was in problem, “I have not knocked on Arsene’s office. We’ll see, I’m not worried, my time will come. He’s always supported me in the difficult times and I have every confidence he’ll keep doing so. I won’t lie, there have been times I’ve been disappointed and not happy with my situation. But the coach knows that. He’s the one who makes the choices.”
