A skeptical mystic who likes to channel his inner loneliness into drumming and dissection of football games. Dreams of watching Tottenham play at the new White Hart Lane. Has spent a majority of the last two years on foul-mouthing Moussa Sissoko and worrying about his receding hairline.

Tottenham continued their underwhelming record in the recent past against West Brom with a 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns. Spurs attacked incessantly in the first half but to no avail as Ben Foster had an excellent game between the sticks. West Brom took the lead through former Tottenham man Nacer Chadli only for the away side to equalize really late in the 89th minute through Dele Alli. Below are Tottenham’s individual player ratings.

Hugo Lloris

Rating: 8

The Frenchman had a decent game and made two vital saves to deny West Brom. He often put himself in tough situations by playing really late.

Kyle Walker

Rating: 8

The right-back was decent throughout the game but his offensive influence was quite limited in this particular game.

Toby Alderweireld

Rating: 8.5

The Belgian was having an excellent game until he was stretchered off after a knock on the knee. Tottenham’s lack of defensive command was quite clearly visible after his departure.

Jan Vertonghen

Rating: 8

Vertonghen struggled a bit with a different partner at the back after Alderweireld’s departure although he managed to do quite well overall.

Ben Davies

Rating: 8

Davies was quite calm at the left-back spot and often got the ball out of tough situations. He tried his luck from long range on two occasions and forced Ben Foster into an excellent save.

Victor Wanyama

Rating: 8.5

Wanyama did well to retain possession but often slowed down the offensive play with some sideways passing. His defensive work and ball retention was excellent throughout.

Moussa Sissoko

Rating: 6.5

Sissoko made some decent runs and got into good positions but was often clueless. His cross weren’t up to the required standard.

Erik Lamela

Rating: 6

Lamela was often ponderous on the ball which took the sting out of the attack. His performance was quite underwhelming.

Dele Alli

Rating: 8.5

Alli was really good throughout the game as he made some really good runs into the box. He provided Tottenham with the equalizer with a deft finish.

Christian Eriksen

Rating: 8

Eriksen was quite heavily involved in the build of play. In spite of two excellent shots on target from the Danish playmaker, Ben Foster made brilliant saves to deny him.

Vincent Janssen

Rating: 6.5

Janssen had a good game with his back against the goal but struggled to provide Tottenham with goal threat mainly due to West Brom’s deep defensive line. He had a mixed game with some decent layoffs but it seemed that he lacked confidence which resulted in his rather average game.

Substitutes

Eric Dier

Rating: 6.5

Dier made some decent tackles but was caught out of position on two separate occasions.

Moussa Dembele

Rating: 8

Dembele did give Tottenham an ability to retain the ball for longer durations but it just wasn’t enough for the game.

Heung-Min Son

Rating: 8.5

Son was really influential in the few minutes he came on for as he really opened the game up. He was also involved in Alli’s goal.
