Jesse Lingard has admitted that Manchester United and Liverpool players who were on England duty have discussed the game. There are a total of six players were on national duty. Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Wayne Rooney, Chris Smalling for United and Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson for Liverpool among the players.
United are set to face Liverpool tonight. The last time United faced Liverpool at Anfield, Wayne Rooney scored a late winner for The Red Devils.
Lingard said, “Of course we spoke about it and both sets of players know that it’ll be an intense game. I played there [at Anfield in January] last season and it was a massive feeling to be part of the celebrations for Wayne’s winning goal [in a 1-0 victory].”
Liverpool have been in sublime form from the start of the season and Lingard knows that it will be a very tough challenge for them.
“Liverpool have been in good form so far and have scored a lot of goals, which is something we need to be wary of. It’ll be tough because they’ve got a lot talent in their group, but we know we’ve got talent in our own ranks.”
