Pep Guardiola has blatantly stated that the Premier League isn’t the most superior league in the world.

Guardiola had earlier managed Barcelona and Bayern Munich and was pretty successful with them. Pep will be reunited with Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta when Manchester City take on Barcelona at the Nou Camp on Wednesday.

City were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton while Barcelona thrashed Deportivo La Coruna 4-0 with Lionel Messi scoring a goal after returning from an injury.

People often touted Premier League as the best league as it has more intensity and speed but Pep thinks otherwise. “I hear a lot of times about the intensity of the Premier League when none of you have been in La Liga or the Bundesliga to know how it is.”

Pep had a very productive stint with The Catalans as he was the coach of Barcelona from 2008-2012. Under his guidance, they won three La Liga titles and two Champions League. “Of course Barcelona is special in how they play, a machine. Three amazing players in front, good counterattack, the way they build-up, so when they win 4-0 it’s because they deserve to win 4-0.”

Guardiola thinks that Leagues around the world deserves more respect, “The problem here is maybe that there are more games but the way that they play in Germany is… [whistles]… it’s amazing. I think you have to have respect for the other leagues, how they play and the way they play.”
