Nemanja Matic (8/10)- The pivot of Chelsea’ midfield, his pairing with Kante has been a revelation this season. After struggling at the start of the season, Matic has finally got back what he does best. Intercepting opponent’s passes and recovering the ball.
He recovered the ball 6 times, played 10 passes in the attacking third and made 2 successful tackles.
N’Golo Kante (8.5/10)- He is pretty much everything for Chelsea at the moment. It’s surprising given his impact on the game.
Made 47 passes in the attacking third, recovered the ball 7 times, made 3 successful tackles, 7 interceptions and also fell back to make 2 clearances.
Eden Hazard (9.5/10)- Finally we are seeing the Hazard we know. His first goal was brilliant and the celebration showed how important an early goal was needed in the game. Hazard pose the most of threats to Southampton’s defence.
Took 3 shots on target and scored 1. Made 24 passes in the attacking third, created 5 chances in opponent’s box and also fouled 5 times in the process.
Diego Costa (9.5/10)- Typical Diego Costa, one cannot notice the figure till he gets the ball but can do such an astounding finish from such a distance.
A brilliant curve from the right foot, which almost sealed the game for Chelsea.
Pedro (8/10)- Had a quiet game with occasional breaks which ultimately materialised to nothing. But his pace and composure on the ball tremendously help on the break
