Yes! Hull City have finally made a signing this summer! The Tigers have signed goalkeeper David Marshall from Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee. It has been a frustrating transfer window for the Tigers, far from what you expect from a newly-promoted side. The Scottish international becomes Hull’s first senior signing this summer and we expect the Humberside club to bring a few more fresh faces before the transfer window slams closed tomorrow midnight (of whom Ryan Mason is one).

Marshall has signed a three-year contract at KC Stadium and is expected to take the gloves from Eldin Jakopovic who had been on duty between the sticks so far this season. Hull City’s deep injury crisis saw their first-choice keeper Allan McGregor ruled out for the rest of the calendar year but backup custodian Eldin Jakupovic had been doing a decent job under the bar so far this season.

Just when it looked like that the Tigers are content with Jakupovic’s display as the last man in defence, Mike Phelan brought in experienced Marshall. Ardent Premier League followers will be well-known with the ability of the 31-year-old, who, in his only Premier League season so far, impressed big time. Even though Cardiff City found themselves demoted to the Championship by the end of that season, Marshall came up with some memorable showings.

Marshall leaves the Cardiff Stadium after memorable nine years at the Welsh club and will be recalled as a legend of the Championship side. The Celtic youth product, who has played for Norwich and Cardiff in England, is a highly experienced keeper with almost 400 appearances in British football. Boasting amazing reflexes and excellent shot-stopping ability, the Scot can turn out to be a solid addition to Hull City.

Hull City fans reacted to this deal on Twitter. Some of them ridiculed the club for only signing a keeper given that they need players in almost every outfield position. However, some had only praise for bringing in such a quality and experienced keeper. Overall, it’s mixed feelings from the fans. Here are some of the best tweets on this deal-
