Real Madrid got off to a flier last week as they brushed aside the potential ‘banana skin’ challenge of Real Sociedad at the Anoeta Stadium. Real Sociedad have been notoriously difficult to beat at their home ground and they traditionally bring their A- game against the bigger sides in the League. And due to the prolonged absence of 5 first team members, especially that of Real Madrid’s talisman Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema there was a sense of anticipation amongst the spectators of an early season upset. But all of this was thrown out of the window as the unstoppable Wales machine Gareth Bale headed in a close ranger header as early as the 2nd minute and from thereon in it was a smooth ride for the European Champions as they took control of the game. The impressive Marco Asensio doubled the lead five minutes to half time before Gareth Bale doubled his tally right at the end to add gloss to the scoreline.
Bale has risen well to the challenge in the absence of his usual partners-in-crime Ronaldo and Benzema. Even though he has performed admirably numerous times, it took time for the Real faithful to warm up to him but the player stuck at it and is arguably considered as the second most important player in the team after Cr7. Real face struggling Celta Vigo next week and even though the injury status regarding the missing stars in unknown, Real have enough firepower to dispatch the Europa League side.
HERE IS THE PREDICTED REAL MADRID LINE-UP (4-3-3)
DEFENCE
Casilla is in line for another start in the absence of Keylor Navas. Carvajal is expected to at right-back once more after an impressive display last week. While Sergio Ramos and Varane will most likely continue their partnership in the centre as Pepe gets match fit. Marcelo will look to be his super-adventurous self from the left-back position.
MIDFIELD
With no updates on the availability of Luca Modric, an unchanged midfield might be the need of the hour. After putting in a commanding display in the centre of the pitch the trio of Kovacic, Kroos and Casemiro will most likely line up again. Isco provides another option.
ATTACK
The team management will not want to rush Ronaldo back after a spell out but Ronaldo will be eager to get into the action if he is declared fit. It’s unlikely to happen though as reports indicate he will perhaps be back for the third game of the league. If the injured duo fails to prove their fitness in time Asensio, Alvaro Morata and Bale will form the front 3 and look to carry on their impressive form.
