According to latest reports Wilfried Bony has been put up for sale by Manchester City. The Ivorian was linked with a move away from the club since last season after he failed to convince in his time at City. And the announcement of Guardiola seemed to lubricate the exit. But with Aguero arriving late after his international commitments he got a chance initially in the pre-season. And the effort was visible from the former Swansea City star. But unfortunately it was a false dawn for him and with his recent exclusion from the 21-man Champions League playoff squad, the writing is on the wall for him.
We look at 3 clubs where he can resurrect his career at.
CRYSTAL PALACE
Alan Pardew managed Palace has been linked with Christian Benteke throughout the summer but Liverpool are refusing to budge from their asking price of £30m and it has caused roadblocks in the deal. With Bony deemed surplus to requirement, City are supposedly willing to listen to offers much lower than the value quoted by Liverpool for Benteke. Both the players have a similar playing style and have performed when in a team built around them. Bony is still regarded as someone who can consistently trouble defences and with the dire need for attacking reinforcements at Palace, Bony is a deal which should work.
SUNDERLAND
David Moyes has been trying to resurrect the Sunderland team who have seemingly lost their way over the past few seasons. And the signing of someone like Bony would be the perfect tonic for the players who badly need a pick-me-up. With unrealistic workload on ageing Jermaine Defoe they could with a striker and the contrasting nature of the two players render this possible partnership an enticing prospect to look forward to. Moyes will presumably be giving sufficient funds to build his team and hence his asking price is unlikely to be a hindrance.
WEST BROMWICH ALBION
West Brom have also been on the lookout for a striker this season and with the uncertainty surrounding Saido Berahino’s future they could look to grasp the opportunity to bolster their front-line. Tony Pulis has been forever accused of playing a bland nature of football and such an exciting attacking signing will help him endear to the fans. Bony might welcome the move to remain in the Premier League as he will be desperate to prove a point or two to his employers as of now.
