You never know when your life takes a u-turn. Since last season, James Forrest’s future at Celtic has come under scrutiny time and time again. Very few would have thought that the winger can have a major turnaround in his career after the appointment of Brendan Rodgers but the Scottish international proved everyone wrong and has already established himself as one of the key players for the Scottish giants. Well, that’s the beauty of the game, it never fails to surprise us.

Forrest’s amazing rejuvenation in form did not go in vain as the Hoops tied the 25-year-old winger down with a new three-year contract. The news of the Scottish international signing a new deal to stay at Parkhead is not a big surprise now but even two months ago, very few Celtic fans would have considered it as a possibility.

Forrest suffered a poor run of form under former manager Ronny Deila and refused a new contract to stay with the club. With his previous deal expiring in January 2017, Forrest moving out of the club in the summer looked on the cards but with the change in manager, fortunes have changed for the player.

The 25-year-old featured in all of Celtic’s five games this season and he was the player who scored the first Celtic goal in the Premiership this campaign. Celtic fans should be very happy with the news as one of their most beloved players is once again committed to the club.

Forrest joined the club when he was just nine years old. He has come through the Celtic Youth Academy and has already made 193 appearances, scoring 31 goals and providing 27 assists. Big things were always expected of him and he had a promising start to his career as well but then came his injury troubles hampering his progress as a player.

It’s never too late to revive your career if you have the fire inside you and Forrest can still manage to become the player he was once touted to become. He now has a manager who believes in him and fans who love him, so there is no shortage of motivation.

Celtic fans reacted on Twitter on the big news and here are some tweets on the contract renewal. From what it seems from the tweets, Celtic fans are on cloud nine at the moment.
