Bayern Munich are weighing up their options ahead of the summer transfer window and may opt to secure the services of Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele in exchange for James Rodriguez. According to recent reports, the Bundesliga giants already have a plan in place to bring the French ace to the Allianz Arena when the summer transfer window opens at the end of the season.
Rodriguez has been in sensational form for Bayern Munich this season. However, there are growing concerns regarding his future in German football as he might choose not to sign a permanent deal with the club. Some sources are now claiming that the Colombian speedster could end up plying his trade at the Nou Camp despite his ties to Real Madrid.
It is believed that Bayern Munich boss Jupp Heynckes is a big admirer of Ousmane Dembele’s talents. The Barcelona forward has failed to live up to the high expectations surrounding his big money transfer from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
The Catalans are set to complete the signing of Antoine Griezmann at the end of the season which could pave the way for Dembele to make a switch out of the Nou Camp.
The Bundesliga leaders will be waiting for the Frenchman with open arms and some reports are also claiming that they might sign Rodriguez on a permanent transfer from the Galacticos and use him as bait to make a swoop for Dembele.
Barca were previously linked with a move for Rodriguez during his time with AS Monaco so they might approve Bayern’s grand plan to seal a blockbuster swap deal next summer. The Catalans are currently leading the La Liga table with a tally of 72 points in 28 matches. They are 8 points above second-placed Atletico Madrid with just 10 matches to go in this campaign21Ernesto Valverde’s side are the top scorers in the league and has found the back of the net 72 times during the course of this season. They also have the second-best defensive record in the Spanish top-flight conceding just 13 goals in the league so far.
A player of Rodriguez’s quality would undoubtedly be an asset for the Catalans as they look to maintain their dominance in the La Liga as well as in Europe in the coming years. The 26-year-old has made 26 appearances for the Bavarians this season, scoring 4 goals while providing 8 assists in all competitions. It remains to be seen whether Barcelona are prepared to let Dembele depart in order to bring Rodriguez to the Nou Camp next summer.
