Due to the FA Cup taking place at the same time as game week 31, there are only a handful of Premier League games to chose from. And as a result, there are only a limited number of players to chose from. So, some of the selections below are more a best of a bad situation choice, rather than players you want in your team week in week out.
Regardless, FPL GW 31 kicks off on Saturday the 17th of March at 15:00 UK time. So, make sure your transfers are done by 14:00 UK time on the 17th. There are three 3 pm kickoffs this week as Bournemouth take on West Brom, Huddersfield Town vs Crystal Palace and Stoke City vs Everton. Liverpool vs Watford is the late kickoff on the 17th. It is also the only other game of GW 31.
Here are three players you should sign this week.
Mohamed Salah (10.6)
Unlike the other players that feature in this article, Salah is one who you really should have in your side week in week out.
The Egyptian has been one of the players of the season in the Premier League. He is the joint top scorer in the Premier League with an astonishing 24 league goals. Salah has also earned 10 assists in the league so far this season. This has put Salah to 237 points on FPL. This makes him both the top midfielder on FPL. And also the top player overall on FPL this season. The next closest is Kevin De Bruyne who is still significantly behind the Liverpool winger.
Furthermore, Liverpool are at home to Watford this game week. Watford’s form has been somewhat inconstant this season. including in their last five games were they have won two and lost three. Also, while Watford are in 10th place, their defence this season hasn’t been great. This is evident by the fact they have let in 50 league goals already this season. This is the most of all the teams in the top 14. So, given how dangerous Liverpool are going forward and Watford’s shaky defence, it is likely they will put several past Watford this week.
Callum Wilson (5.9)
Wilson makes this article for GW 31 largely because there are just four games this week. However, given the players available to you this week, he is one of your better choices.
Bournemouth are at home to West Brom this game week and unless you have been living under a rock you will know The Baggies are having an awful season. They currently find themselves dead bottom of the Premier League, seven points behind 19th place. And with just eight league games remaining, their fate is all but sealed. They have also lost their last five league games as well as being the lowest scorers in the league with just 23 goals in 30 games.
So, given how bad West Brom are doing, it is very likely Bournemouth are going to beat them. Therefore, you should probably have a Bournemouth player on your FPL side this week. While Wilson hasn’t been on the best form lately he is still probably your best pick. Given that he has the most points of any attacking minded player for Bournemouth this season. Despite missing some games early in the season.
Cenk Tosun (6.7)
Much like Wilson Tosun makes this article due to the shortage of available players this week. But he too is very likely to score this game week.
Tosun did struggle somewhat when he first arrived at Everton in January. However, he does look to have found some form in his past two games which saw him score against both Burnley and Brighton.
Moreover, Everton takes on Stoke City this game week. Stoke are 19th in the league and have failed to win any of their last five games. They have also conceded the second most goals this season in the league letting in a staggering 56 goals in 30 games. The only team to let in more is West Ham with 57. So, given Tosun is on form and Stoke’s defence is very poor, he could very well continue his goalscoring run this game week.
Helpful tip: If you still have your ‘free hit’ available, this week is the perfect time to use it as you can fill your team full of players from the eight teams playing this week. And then next week your previous week’s team will return.
