Leeds United’s aspirations of getting into the play-offs suffered yet another blow as they could muster merely a point against Reading at the Madejski Stadium earlier today. Jon Dadi Bodvarsson gave the Royals the lead early on, which was cancelled by Pontus Jansson late in the first-half.
The Whites came back stronger in the second-half, with Pablo Hernandez finding the back of the net, only to see their lead getting nullified by Eunan O’Kane’s own goal a couple of minutes later.
Here are our Leeds United players’ ratings from their 2-2 draw against Reading.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell: 7/10
The custodian impressed with his performance after being stationed between the sticks as he made some decent saves and showcased excellent positional awareness. The two goals which the Whites conceded were owing to poor defending from their backline.
Gaetano Berardi: 6/10
Berardi was given tough times by Modou Barrow, particularly in the early minutes of the game, but he eventually found his feet in the game.
Pontus Jansson: 8/10
The centre-back was resilient at the back and barked orders at the other defenders to keep things neat and tidy. His presence on the pitch today was a galvanizing one and he was at the right place at the right time to find the back of the net to level the score sheet late in the first-half.
Matthew Pennington: 6/10
Pennington struggled with the ball at his feet and seemingly appeared to be timorous and wasteful more often than not. He certainly needs to do a lot more to feature regularly for the Yorkshire based outfit.
Laurens De Bock: 4/10
The left-back struggled to cater to his defensive duties and there is no denying that he produced yet another forgettable show as he committed a lot of errors throughout the game.
Adam Forshaw: 8/10
One of the better players on the pitch, Forshaw moved the ball from defence to attack, made some shrewd tackles and worked tirelessly to turn the tables in favour of his employers. Besides, he also bagged an assist for Leeds United’s first goal.
Eunan O’Kane: 5/10
O’Kane misplaced a lot of passes and more often than not, he was bereft of ideas when he had the ball. Besides, he scored an own goal to worsen his day at the office.
Samuel Saiz: 7/10
He kept causing troubles for Reading’s defence as he looked quite lively in the final third. He drove forward time and again and was industrious once again.
Pablo Hernandez: 8/10
The Spaniard produced some magical moments today and his passes were top notch. Moreover, he gave his side a lead in the second-half after scoring a clinical goal.
Ezgjan Alioski: 6/10
No one is going to question about Alioski’s work-rate against Stam’s men but he couldn’t manoeuvre the required touch of cutting edge today.
Caleb Ekuban: 5/10
Ekuban operated as the gunman but frankly speaking, he hardly imposed himself as a major threat. His first touches were horrible at times.
Substitutions
Pierre-Michel Lasogga: 6/10
The German striker replaced Ekuban in the second-half and did add some spark up front.
Stuart Dallas: NA
Dallas was brought in late in the second-half after Hernandez was pulled out.
