Manchester United may be one of the strongest teams in England but the way their neighbours are dominating the league at the moment, it is imperative that Jose Mourinho will spend big to get in some superstars to help his side compete with the best next season. However, they were dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of one such star in Paulo Dybala.
Reports earlier in the season claimed that Mourinho is desperate for the Argentine playmaker and that the Red Devils are preparing a bid for his services at the end of the season. However, all the noise coming out of Italy claim that Dybala is ready to sign a contract extension at Juventus, his current club. This will leave United in search of another such exciting and here are three players they should start scouting for:
Marco Asensio (Real Madrid):
The Spanish ace has been in terrific form for Zinedine Zidane’s side ever since he was pushed into the senior side. However, he is yet to cement a place in the first team and there are rumours linking him with an exit in the summer. Manchester United are already credited with an interest in the 22-year old and if Dybala does end up penning a new deal, Asensio as good an option as any available in the transfer market at the end of the season.
Isco (Real Madrid):
Another Spaniard currently unsettled at Bernabeu, Isco is easily one of the best playmakers on show in Europe at the moment. He, like Asensio, is struggling to cement his place in the first team under the French manager and has extensively been linked with an exit in the summer. He has a ridiculous release clause but if he decides to quit Real Madrid, Manchester United should certainly do all it takes to bring the 25-year old to Old Trafford before the start of the next season.
Thomas Lemar (AS Monaco):
Another exciting youngster, who is expected to be in the transfer market at the end of the season, Lemar is a top transfer target for Liverpool but has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past. He is still 22, has all the attributes to be a hit in the Premier League and though his asking price might be a bit steep, he has enough potential to justify the tag and is definitely an option Mourinho should pursue in the summer.
