Manchester United’s transfer pursuit of Ryan Sessegnon was dealt a fresh blow when reports came out claiming that the player himself would favour a move to Liverpool. The 17-year-old is a fan of the Reds from a very young age and the prospects of playing under a manager like Jurgen Klopp seems to be the better move in his career ladder.
Sessegnon’s talents will be a miss for any team in the top-division judging by the performances he has put in recent times. The U19 England international has netted the ball 13 times and registered 4 assists in 34 EFL Championship outings for the Lillywhites this season.
Sessegnon made his debut for the senior team on 9th August 2016 at the age of 16 years and 81 days only. Ever since then he has displayed great maturity and composure for a teenager and successfully broke into the first team squad of Fulham.
Mostly operating from the left-back position, the Roehampton-born teenager is capable of playing upfront in the wing position and has already picked up crucial first-team experience. He could have been developed into the United system by transferring as early as next summer.
The left-back position has been Jose Mourinho’s weakest link this season with no competent options at his disposal. Ashley Young has been forced to play as a make-shift option with Luke Shaw as the backup and Daley Blind completely shunned from team selection.
If the former Galactico head coach wants to get the better of his longtime rival, Pep Guardiola in the following campaign a quality addition is necessary in the next transfer window and here are a few candidates that he should consider.
Alex Sandro
The 27-year-old was on Jose Mourinho’s wish list for the January transfer window but the United manager ended up prioritizing the transfer of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal. Operating from the left like an engine, Sandro’s pace and distribution abilities are hard to match up for opposition wide men. He has abundant talent on both ends of the pitch and is one of the best replacements for Marcelo in the Brazil national team.
Kieran Tierney
Tierney has been impressive for Scottish Premiership outfit, Celtic this season and at the age of 20, has a long career ahead of him. He has already racked up over 100 appearances for the Hoops and was previously targeted by the Red Devils.
Layvin Kurzawa
The Paris Saint-Germain left-back is currently evaluating his future with the Ligue 1 outfit. The club manager, Unai Emery has rotated him around with last summer arrival, Yuri Berchiche in the backline and this has forced Kurzawa to question his importance at the Parc des Princes. The player himself had previously admitted that a move to Old Trafford will be a dream come true for him.
