Fulham winger Ryan Sessegnon favours a move to Liverpool over other Premier League destinations. According to recent reports, the 17-year-old wonderkid wants to make a switch to Merseyside amidst interest from a whole host of English clubs. He is considered as one of the hottest prospects in English football after his sensational performances for Fulham this season.
Sessegnon has caught the eye with some dazzling displays and has scored 10 goals in the last 12 league matches. Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are all keeping tabs on his progress at Craven Cottage. It is understood that the teenage starlet could have moved on from Fulham last summer but he decided to stay in order to play regular first-team football.
The possibility of being relegated to play football for the Under 23 side of a top team worried him as it would have halted his development but his rapid rise in the Skybet Championship this season has given him a platform to move on for fresh adventures. His new contract with Fulham runs until the summer of 2020 and sources close to the player are now claiming that Sessegnon is eager to make a switch to Anfield if the Cottagers are unable to secure promotion to the top tier of English football this year.
Sessegnon grew up as a boyhood Liverpool fan and playing under Jurgen Klopp is something that appeals to him. He will be a perfect fit for the Reds as he can be deployed on the left side of Liverpool’s front three. Sadio Mane has been a bit inconsistent over the last few months so the addition of Sessegnon would undoubtedly bolster Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options and add some competition for places going into the new campaign.
The Reds are currently sitting in 3rd place in the Premier League table after securing a comfortable 2-0 victory at home to Newcastle United on Saturday. The Anfield-based outfit find themselves just above Tottenham Hotspur, who are in fourth place with a two-point gap separating the two teams at the moment.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s side are a staggering 18 points behind league leaders Manchester City which indicates that they need to bring in a few fresh faces in the summer to try and bridge the gap between themselves and the Manchester clubs in the coming years. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Sessegnon and whether he ends up making a switch to Merseyside in the near future.
