Carlo Ancelotti has emerged as a clear favourite to be the next manager of Arsenal, if the Gunners end up parting ways with Arsene Wenger. According to the latest odds released by the United Kingdom bookmakers, the Italian manager is leading the race to take up the Arsenal job after the North Londoners suffered a 2-1 defeat away at the Amex Stadium versus Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
In the post-match press conference, Wenger revealed that his side was lacking confidence which led to the defeat but brushed off the idea of him parting ways with the club. According to Odds Checker, odds are shortening on Ancelotti being the man to replace Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium. He is the current favourite with Bet Victor pricing him at odds of 5/2. Germany manager Joachim Low is the second favourite to succeed Wenger in North London while former Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta is currently third in the race for the Arsenal hot seat.
Ancelotti is considered as one of the most respected managers in world football after successful spells at Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid during his managerial career. He also boasts the record of being the most successful manager of the Champions League era, having won the prestigious European trophy three times.
The Gunners have slumped to sixth place in the Premier League table, eight points shy of fifth-placed Chelsea and 33 points behind league leaders Manchester City. They are in dire need of reinforcements in the summer but whether Wenger will still be in charge of the club by then, remains to be seen.
Ancelotti has previously managed Chelsea in the top tier of English football and knows what it takes to win in the Premier League. He is undoubtedly the perfect replacement for Wenger if the Frenchman decides to depart the club in the near future. The Italian has previously won the Premier League and the FA Cup with the Blues which makes him the ideal candidate to lead the Gunners going into the new campaign as they look to bridge the gap between themselves and the top 4 in the coming years.
Ancelotti has a wealth of experience at the top level and his European pedigree is second to none which the Gunners can benefit from if they decide to opt for his services. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of the Italian manager and whether he ends up succeeding Wenger at the Emirates Stadium in the near future.
