Rangers FC are looking to silence their doubters by grabbing a win against their bitter rivals, Celtic after hearing controversial statements from the Hoops boss, Brendan Rodgers. The former Liverpool head coach stated that the Light Blues perform better when away from home and this gives them the advantage leading upto the fixture on Sunday, 11th March.
The Gers faithful did not take too kindly to his words and have come up not only infuriated but equally motivated to register the maximum 3 points at the Ibrox Stadium.
The league title seemed to have escaped the clutches of Rangers fans earlier in the season when Celtic held a massive 11-point lead at the top. However, the gap has been diminished to 6 points now and a win in the next game will launch a fresh title challenge in the final stretch of the season with just 9 games left in the season.
No one can predict what the successive months will deliver and whether the Green and Whites will be successful in grabbing their 7th consecutive league title, but the pedigree of Rangers as a competitive presence in the top division of Scottish football cannot be refuted.
If plans were to be drawn up beforehand, how can they improve upon their current campaign under Graeme Murty? By further additions which will help the Gers match strides with cash stacked league leaders.
Murty has taken on an aggressive approach to the January transfer window and has bolstered the club ranks immensely with four signings. It looks like the chips should continue to roll after the season comes to an end and here a few players that the Ibrox-side can look forward to signing.
Emerson Hyndman
The 21-year-old has only been called up thrice for the senior Bournemouth team over the course of the season and is eager to find himself more minutes on the pitch.
Hyndman can easily provide a rotational optional to what can already be identified as a start stacked lineup. Behind the likes of Jason Holt and veteran Niko Kranjcar, the Dallas-born midfielder can take up the anchor position in some games to provide a lot of opportunities for the side going forward.
Ethan Robson
Primarily a midfielder by trade, Robson is a left-footed maestro who currently plies his trade for relegation riddled EFL Championship side, Sunderland.
He has been impressing for the second string side and has racked up 3 goals in 10 Premier League 2 appearances this season. He also earned a nomination for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month in November.
Reise Allassani
Former Crystal Palace striker, Allassani is making up for lost time after being cruelly denied a move to Sheffield Wednesday in 2016. He has been impressing with seventh-tier English side, Dulwich Hamlet and was on Rangers’ wishlist earlier in the season. Maybe Murty should look further into the 22-year-old’s case.
