Leeds United are currently in 12th place in the Skybet Championship standings with a tally of 49 points in 35 league matches. Paul Heckingbottom’s side are in dire need of some favourable results in the coming weeks along with a lot of luck to have any chance of securing a playoff spot at the end of the season. The Peacocks find themselves a massive 8 points behind sixth-placed Bristol City, who occupy the final playoff position. Only time will tell whether the new manager can push his players to climb up the table going into the final stretch of the campaign.
The West Yorkshire outfit are hoping to have a productive summer where they can recruit well under their new manager Paul Heckingbottom in their quest to earn promotion back to the Premier League in the near future. Let’s take a look at three players who can bolster the Peacocks squad ahead of the new campaign.
Leander Dendoncker
The 22-year-old midfielder is currently plying his trade at RSC Anderlecht and has put in some strong displays for the Belgian giants this season. He has made 34 appearances for Anderlecht this season across all competitions and has an assist to his name. Dendoncker has immense potential and could turn out to be an ideal asset under Paul Heckingbottom if given the chance to make a switch to Elland Road. He is highly versatile and can operate in a number of different positions in central midfield as well as central defence which makes him a perfect fit to ply his trade at Elland Road in the near future.
Steven Whittaker
The Hibernian right-back has lit up the Scottish Premiership with his performances this season. The Scottish international has made 21 appearances for Hibs this season, scoring once and providing five assists in all competitions. He has a wonderful knack for creating and scoring goals from the right-back position which could be an ideal asset for Paul Heckingbottom’s men going into the future.
Ross McCormack
If the West Yorkshire side are looking for someone who can provide a temporary boost to their attacking options, they can definitely opt for the services of the 31-year-old Aston Villa forward. He has put in some terrific performances on loan at Melbourne City in the Australian league and has scored 14 goals in 19 matches last season. The Scottish forward also has a wealth of experience in English football which makes him a suitable candidate to take up the goal-scoring duties at Elland Road.
