West Ham United are lining up a move for Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter next summer. According to recent reports, the Hammers are willing to reignite their interest in the player by tabling an offer in the region of £10m in the summer. West Ham boss David Moyes had two offers, the last bid amounting to about £8m, for the Cherries midfielder declined during the January transfer period.
However, the 28-year-old remains a top priority target for Moyes, who is looking to shake up his West Ham team at the end of the season if he can help the East London club avoid relegation this season. It is believed that the Scottish manager has identified midfield as an area which requires a major improvement in his short tenure at the club which is why the Hammers could look to bolster their midfield options in the summer with Moyes reckoning that he can prise Arter away from the South Coast.
The former Charlton Athletic player has featured in 16 matches for the Cherries this season and has a goal to his name so far in all competitions. At 28, he still has a good few years left in him which the East London club could look to utilise in the coming years.
The Hammers are currently occupying 13th place in the Premier League standings with a tally of 30 points in 28 league matches. They have been a tough nut to crack in the league over the last few weeks and have done well after the appointment of David Moyes in November last year. However, Moyes’ side are just three points above the drop zone going into the final stretch of the season and are in need of a few favourable results in the coming weeks to ensure their Premier League lives for another season.
The addition of a veteran midfielder like Arter will undoubtedly bolster David Moyes’midfield options ahead of the new campaign as they look to establish themselves in the Premier League and push for a European place in the next campaign. The Republic of Ireland international has a wealth of experience in the top tier of English football which makes him a perfect fit for this West Ham team.
Arter has made 69 appearances in the Premier League, scoring 3 goals and providing 4 assists during his career. He can also boast 11 international caps for the Republic of Ireland national team. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Arter and whether he ends up plying his trade at the London Stadium next season.
