Latest reports are linking AC Milan right-back Davide Calabria with a move to Everton. The Italy U-21 international is an integral part of the AC Milan side and has made 20 appearances for the San Siro side this season scoring one goal and creating 3 more.
He is naturally a right back but can play at left back with absolute ease if his team needs him to. He is fast and has a natural talent on the ball and is a quick learner of the tactical game. It is being reported that he is being scouted by Everton who sent men to watch him in action. He came through the youth academy and has broken into the first team this season and is looking set to make it big in the future.
AC Milan are reportedly very happy with his performances and have told suitors like Everton to back off as they are not the slightest bit interested in parting ways with their talented teenager. The Italian outfit have had a below-par campaign. Despite the takeover and Milan buying an endless spree of talent last summer, their team has failed to click.
The new players have failed to coerce leading to the team suffering in the form in both domestic and European tournaments. They have fared slightly better under new boss and former Milan legend Gennaro Gattuso. Although the team is yet to hit top gear, they have in their ranks several top players who are very young and have a bright future ahead of them including Davide Calabria.
Farhad Moshiri and his Everton board backed Ronald Koeman to bring in an arsenal of summer signings that saw the club spend a net amount of £142.38m. Despite spending so heavily, they have failed to score regularly and the side were once threatened by relegation.
Tipped by many to challenge the ‘top six’, the Toffees were expected to fight for a European spot this time. Currently, Everton are fighting a battle of rejuvenation after having been to hell and back in the early few months of the season. The club has in no way been any challenge to the top six in the first round of the Premier League.
Everton are now preparing for a fresh assault next season and seem keen on preparing for reinforcements from now on itself by targeting talents like Calabria. It remains to be seen although how much will Moshiri have to offer to prise away the fullback from Italy.
