Serie A outfit AC Milan are currently scouting for midfield additions in the summer and have set their eyes on Swansea City player, Ki Sung-Yueng. The South Korean international will be out of a contract after this season and the Red and Blacks can approach him for pre-contractual agreement.
Ki Sung-Yueng is a notable talent with over 5 years of Premier League experience. He arrived at the Liberty Stadium after breaking into his stride for the Scottish side, Celtic with 11 goals and 15 assists in 87 appearances. His price tag of around £6m made him the most expensive signing for Swansea at the time and quite deservedly so.
He has 151 games under his belt for the Welsh side and is key to their survival in the league this season.
The midfielder’s game is well rounded both offensively and defensively. He is technically adept to control the midfield in high-pressure situations and win back possession whenever required.
Swansea’s recent rise from the relegation pits of top-flight English football has been majorly due to Ki’s impressive efforts at the heart of the park.
City were at one point right at the bottom of the league already ruled out to be a second division club for the next season but on Carlos Carvalhal’s appointment has found a fighting spirit inside them.
They won 3 of their last 5 league games, 2 of those wins came against Arsenal and Liverpool. However, the Swans were guilty of another 4-1 blowout by Brighton & Hove Albion over the weekend and are currently back in the 18th spot.
AC Milan who themselves are struggling to make it into the European qualification spot this season. They are currently staged in the 7th spot of the Serie A and the previous summer overhaul of big money names is yet to deliver on its promise – The promise of a successful title challenge and the return to the Champions League.
The return on their investments has been meagre and it looks like further additions are necessary to continue on their path to resurgence. Gennaro Gattuso is still trying to figure out a way to integrate consistency into an already star-stacked squad. The defence has been one an issue with a lack of creativity from the midfield position.
Gattuso currently chooses to field Lucas Biglia and Riccardo Montolivo in central creative roles and Ki Sung-Yueng can be the prime fit in the anchor position.
However, it might not be a wise decision for Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal to let go of one of his prime weapons in the midfield as the Welsh club might have to face a tough fight for survival in the top flight.
