Real Madrid will play hosts to Deportivo Alaves at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Saturday at the back of a comfortable 3-1 victory over Leganes in midweek. The Galacticos are in a rich vein of form and have won their last four matches in all competitions. On paper, it’s a mismatch and it’s not a case of ‘if’ but by ‘how many’ goals will Los Blancos win but football is not played on paper and there is always a chance of a major upset. Abelardo Fernández’s side are still in with a chance to save themselves from a potential relegation at the end of the season and a result in the Spanish capital could do their confidence a world of good in their efforts to save themselves going into the final stretch of the campaign.
The recent history of the fixture makes a grim reading for the visitors as they have lost their last six meetings with Los Blancos. Alaves have also never won against the Galacticos. Zinedine Zidane is expected to opt for a 4-4-2 formation and could start Cristiano Ronaldo after resting the Portuguese superstar in their last outing.
4-4-2 Real Madrid Predicted Lineup To Face Alaves
Defence
Keylor Navas will once again start in goal for Los Blancos and is expected to be shielded by a back four of Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos in central defence while Dani Carvajal takes his place at right-back and Theo Hernandez starts on the left-hand side of the backline in place of the injured Marcelo.
Zinedine Zidane will be hoping that his defenders can keep a rare clean sheet versus Alaves on Saturday after conceding four goals in their last two league outing against Real Betis and Leganes respectively.
Midfield
Isco and Casemiro will line up as the holding midfielders while Marco Asensio and Lucas Vasquez will play on the wings. The Madrid midfield will be responsible for creating and scoring goals on the day to try and continue their recent good run of four victories in a row across all competitions.
Attack
The duo of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema is expected to lead the lines for Real Madrid up top. Ronaldo has been in excellent form of late which has seen him score six goals in his past three matches for the Galacticos in all competitions. The Portuguese superstar will once again look to add to his goal tally of 26 goals in 31 matches this season when he laces up to face the Alaves defence on Saturday. It remains to be seen if he can get his name on the scoresheet against Abelardo Fernández’s side.
