Liverpool are set to offer their Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah a new contract amidst speculation linking the Reds forward with a move to Real Madrid next summer. According to recent reports in the Italian media, the Merseyside club are ready to do all they can to ensure that Salah stays put at Anfield for the immediate future. The Egypt international has already reached the 30-goal milestone in this campaign and has become the first player to do so since Luis Suarez, who managed to pull off the same feat back in 2014.
However, the Uruguayan’s time at Merseyside didn’t last long as he favoured a switch to the Nou Camp to play for La Liga giants Barcelona.
The Reds want to make sure that the same does not happen with Salah and would do their best to keep hold of their prized asset for years to come. Salah’s former team-mate Diego Perotti was recently quoted to have said: “He won’t stay at Liverpool for more than half an hour, he’ll leave, someone will pick him up.”
His words will be a cause for concern as Kopites from all over the world would be hoping that their club will be able to fend off strong interest from Spain to retain Salah’s services as they try to bridge the gap between themselves and Manchester City in the coming seasons. It is believed that Real Madrid are interested in making a swoop for Salah’s services, with Florentino Perez looking to reshape his side ahead of the new campaign.
Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is reportedly set to be offered an improved deal by the Reds as he continues to be linked with a move away from Anfield next summer following his remarkable first season at the club. Some sources are also claiming that the Merseyside outfit wants to offer Sadio Mane a new and improved contract as well which could turn out to be a shrewd piece of business for Liverpool ahead of the busy summer transfer window.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently sitting in 3rd place in the Premier League table after securing a comfortable 2-0 victory away at Southampton in the last gameweek. The Merseyside club find themselves just above Chelsea, who are in fifth place with a point separating the two teams at the moment.
However, the Reds are a staggering 18 points behind league leaders Manchester City. Retaining some of their star players could go a long way in helping them improve under Klopp in the new few years as they look to mount a realistic title challenge next season. It remains to be seen whether Salah pens a new deal with the club to ensure his immediate future at Anfield.
